LEGO Minas Tirith launch freebies fetch more than the set

The launch event and freebies for LEGO Minas Tirith are now unavailable, causing prices for them to skyrocket to at least £50 for a sticker.

As is often the case with most promotional LEGO items for huge sets, the secondary marketplace is now home to several listings for the various items offered during the launch period for 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith. This includes the exclusive 40893 The Lord of the Rings: Grond gift-with-purchase, which saw its deal period end yesterday.

The siege weapon gift was originally available with orders of the £579.99 / €649.99 / $649.99 set until June 7 and remained available for the entirety of that run. Despite the wide availability, you can find listings for the GWP on eBay with multiple bids for around £92.

That's to be expected with these exclusive gifts-with-purchase at this point. What's much more surprising is the listings for items from the launch events held at LEGO stores.

Those launch events were held for one day with limited spots at each store. Attendants walked away with a customised 113-piece Siege Tower, various stickers and a poster alongside the set and the gift-with-purchase, assuming they purchased Minas Tirith.

Head to eBay now and you'll see a handful of listings for these specific items, including £50 stickers and £924.70 for the lot. That latter listing has no bids at the time of writing, but some of the stickers do.

While 11377 The Lord of the Rings: Minas Tirith is still available for £579.99 / €649.99 / $649.99, the rest of these items are now unavailable and are unlikely to return. If you decide to pick up Minas Tirith sooner rather than later, you can score a gift-with-purchase that varies depending on your region until June 18.
