Six crazy suggestions for rumoured LEGO Darth Vader art set

Rumour has it that a LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader art model is on the way next year, and hopefully, it's crazier than just a remake of 31200 Star Wars The Sith.

Of the eight newly rumoured LEGO Star Wars sets for January 2027, one of the most intriguing is 75466 Darth Vader Art. There are no details as to what this could be, but the name suggests something similar to LEGO Art's 31200 Star Wars The Sith from 2020.

Here's hoping that the rumoured model isn't just a remake of that Darth Vader mosaic, but something more outlandish and creative. We've gathered six suggestions for the rumoured model, partially inspired by incredible work from the Star Wars community.

A transformation homage

Yom Tov Blumenthal's colossal LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader artwork is a personal favourite custom creation from the online community. It pays tribute to Darth Vader's transformation from Anakin Skywalker, showing some of the burned skin beneath the intimidating helm.

More notably, it's made up of all kinds of LEGO elements, from Direhorses from Avatar to UCS plaques. While something on this scale probably isn't feasible, that technique is absolutely feasible for a LEGO set.

31212

LEGO Art's 31213 The Milky Way Galaxy employed a similar technique but on a much smaller scale, and we'd love to see a Darth Vader tribute in this same vein, using Darth Vader minifigures, lightsaber hilts and much more.

Something more abstract

Another option for a LEGO Darth Vader artwork would be something more abstract, similar to 21066 New York City – The Big Apple. Picture the outline of Darth Vader's helmet instead of the large apple in the background, and something based on the character in the foreground.

That foreground scene could be anything from scenes from throughout Anakin and Darth Vader's story to a lightsaber recreation. Anything abstract enough to make the fans think and ponder would be suitable.

A celebration of Darth Vader's legacy

LEGO Ideas 21340 Tales of the Space Age remains a personal favourite LEGO set that I unfortunately missed out on, but the format of postcard-style builds is widely applicable.

A set of three or four of these models based on Darth Vader's journey, from the duel on Mustafar to his passing, would make for an amazing model. Monochromatic minifigures might be suitable to support these scenes, too, but they're not crucial.

The Mustafar landscape

Mustafar is a hugely important part of Darth Vader's narrative, including Fortress Vader. Rishi0490 has created a stunning landscape artwork based on this location, featuring the warm tones of Mustafar, setting the scene.

As a proof of concept, it goes to show that Mustafar itself can be the ideal subject for LEGO artwork, while still appropriately paying tribute to Darth Vader.

A 3D sculpture

Nothing says that LEGO artwork has to be two-dimensional. Darth Vader has received plenty of physical models within LEGO Star Wars' history, including a bust, helmet and up-scaled minifigure.

Something even more detailed and with a bigger budget would be a worthwhile addition to this range that stands out, though. A full 3D sculpture of the character, similar to the piece by serghaz, danielmo3d and henry_naas but in LEGO form, is an option for the rumoured 2027 set. There's even inspiration to take from the recent LEGO Editions football player sculptures.

An alternate take on Darth Vader

One last suggestion for the rumoured 2027 set is to not depict the normal appearance of Darth Vader at all. The character has taken on many different forms across pop culture, including Jedi Vader from 75389 The Dark Falcon. However, the innovation seen in Star Wars: Visions has us desiring a tribute to the Samurai Darth Vader form that has featured in merchandise in recent years.

From an Iron Studios sculpture to an outfit and a LEGO Style in Fortnite, anything based on Samurai Darth Vader would make for a great LEGO art model. Alternatively, the LEGO Group can lean heavily into nostalgia by paying tribute to Ralph McQuarrie's concept art for Darth Vader, featuring a different helmet design.
